ŠKODA AUTO is systematically continuing its internationalisation: In the United Arab Emirates, ŠKODA has now opened a new showroom in Dubai. It offers space for 40 vehicles over an area of 1,200 square metres, making it the Czech car manufacturer’s largest showroom in the world. The ŠKODA model portfolio on offer in the UAE now comprises six models, including the three SUV series KAMIQ, KAROQ and KODIAQ.

Martin Jahn, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing, emphasises: “We are consistently advancing our company’s internationalisation as one of the core elements of our NEXT LEVEL ŠKODA programme for the future. We are developing new markets in a targeted manner so that we can continue to grow profitably. In Dubai, we are opening the world’s largest ŠKODA showroom spanning 1,200 square metres, thus underscoring the successful global development of our brand. By expanding our presence in the United Arab Emirates, we are consolidating and strengthening our position.”

In Dubai, there is space for 40 vehicles in what is now the world’s largest ŠKODA showroom. To offer customers the best possible advice, the company relies not only on the personal approach of its local employees but also on the latest digital technologies.

The Czech car manufacturer’s vehicles are showcased by the local dealer Ali & Sons, with whom ŠKODA has been cooperating since 2010. In addition to the new salesroom in Dubai, existing and prospective customers of the brand now have access to a total of three dealerships, one in Abu Dhabi and one in al-Ain.

The SCALA and KAMIQ model series went on sale in the UAE in 2020, and in the first quarter of this year the fourth-generation OCTAVIA and the KAROQ joined the line-up; the large SUV model KODIAQ and the ŠKODA SUPERB round off the range. This means that ŠKODA now offers six model series to meet all local customer needs.

A look at the brand’s development in the market proves that ŠKODA’s characteristic spaciousness, clear design and many Simply Clever features appeal to its customers in the Persian Gulf: in 2020, the Czech carmaker was able to increase its deliveries in the United Arab Emirates by 35 per cent.

The new ŠKODA FABIA in its fourth generation presents a striking design, bigger interior, increased comfort and, thanks to advanced safety and assistance systems, even greater levels of safety. 22 years after its debut, the popular small car combines classic ŠKODA qualities such as reliability, ease of use and outstanding practicality with enhanced safety, comfort and dynamism.

Small car with cult status

Since its premiere in 1999, the FABIA has been uniting ŠKODA’s brand values. It combines great levels of active and passive safety with a generously sized interior and excellent value for money. It also offers compact exterior dimensions, efficient powertrains and numerous Simply Clever features. The FABIA perfectly meets the needs of young families or young professionals, and makes an ideal second car. Among the current ŠKODA models, it has been part of the brand’s line-up the second longest. It is therefore an important face of the brand with cult status and a loyal customer group. Now the fourth-generation FABIA is set to continue this success story.

Full LED headlights and tail lights, Virtual Cockpit and new colours

Clear-cut headlights, which extend to the radiator grille, characterise the front view of the new FABIA. Even the standard variant features modern LED technology; full LED headlights with a comprehensive range of functions are available on request. A full LED variant is also available as an option for the tail lights, which feature crystalline structures typical of the brand. The new interior design of the ŠKODA FABIA enhances the small car’s feeling of spaciousness even further. The symmetrical instrument panel with its central, free-standing display, and the horizontal, differently coloured decorative strips (depending on the trim line), emphasise the width of the interior. Furthermore, the Virtual Cockpit is making its FABIA debut. From market launch, the three familiar trim lines Active, Ambition and Style will be available, offering new colours and materials.

First ŠKODA FABIA based on the MQB-A0 platform

The influence of the MQB-A0 platform on the vehicle proportions can be seen in the FABIA’s new dimensions. Despite the increase in size, the ŠKODA engineers have succeeded in maintaining the weight close to that of the third-generation model.

To honour its 120th anniversary in racing, ŠKODA Motorsport created the limited ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120. Only twelve units of this special version of the successful rally car will be available. The ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 offers the majority of technical upgrades introduced for the 2021 ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo, complemented by additional equipment, a special livery and exclusive accessories. Orders for the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 are open.

In 2021 ŠKODA celebrates its 120th birthday in motorsports. Over the decades, the Mladá Boleslav based company went from long distance races with motorbikes to hill climbs, circuit racing and rallies on four wheels. On the way, ŠKODA collected countless victories, most recently dominating the WRC2/WRC2 Pro category of the FIA World Rally Championship.

To honour the brand’s 120 years of racing tradition, ŠKODA Motorsport presents a limited edition of its successful customer rally car. The ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 will be sold in twelve units only. Each of them will not only include the majority of the technical upgrades of the 2021 ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo, it also comes with a variety of extra features. In addition to the standard equipment of the newest model, the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 includes a set of green painted magnesium wheels and a full pod of extra LED lights plus LED corner lights.

An additional full package of extra internal accessories based on factory crews experience is part of the standard configuration. This includes storage bags or nets for personal belongings, tools, spare parts or additional equipment. More comfort improving accessories like camel bags for drinking water, bottles for car liquids, belts, holders and much more complete the package of extras. The limited edition equipment also brings a unique Edition 120 welcome screen for both monitors in the cockpit, a special car livery plus a plaque identifying the production number. A certificate of authenticity, useful ŠKODA merchandise like a backpack and an exclusive ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo model car (1:18 scale) with identical looks round up the special offer.

“The limited production ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 is an all-inclusive version of the 2021 upgraded car. With the package of improved parts, it not only offers a further developed version of our championship winning car. With its exclusive features, the limited Edition 120 is also a veritable collector’s car,” says Michal Hrabánek, Head of ŠKODA Motorsport.

The ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 features all non-optional contents of the general 2021 upgrade package. These updates concern the improved engine, where the goal for the technicians was to improve the gas exchange and mixture preparation in the combustion chamber. This was realised with a newly designed and more efficient intercooler, optimized exhaust manifold, new valve timing as well as a new setup of the electronic mapping. These modifications improve the overall performance and characteristics of the engine as well as increase the maximum power output by two kW up to 214 kW, depending on fuel quality. Newly calibrated dampers provide even better traction and car stability on all types of surfaces, giving the driver more trust in the car.

Next to even better performance improved reliability was a major topic for the 2021 upgrades of the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo. A stronger rear axle subframe minimizes the risk of damage on rough roads. For the gravel version of the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo a special cooling device for the rear brakes, originally homologated for tarmac use only, will be included. The engine of the ŠKODA sFABIA Rally2 evo in 2021 spec – and thus of the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 – is equipped with a redesigned lubrication system with improved function in dynamic modes. Modifications include a newly designed intake strainer and optimized geometry of baffle plates in the oil sump to improve turbocharger oil feeding and its reliability. Another result of these changes is a reduced oil level. Newly arranged steering wheel buttons, up to eight for different functions, as well as a redesigned mounting for the jack further improve crew comfort. All upgrade parts for the latest version of the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo are already homologated.

Buyers of the limited ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo Edition 120 can choose to add more options. These include a longer gear set, which makes the gearbox better suitable for rallies with high average speed by increasing the top speed to 202 kph. Especially for low grip surfaces, ŠKODA Motorsport also offers a third set of differential ramps (48/70), which can be used both on gravel and tarmac stages.

Prepare to meet the all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO: the Czech automaker is offering the latest, fourth generation of its best-seller to Chinese customers in the form of an exclusive variant that is specifically tailored to the Chinese market. Compared to the all-new OCTAVIA introduced in Europe in 2020, the China edition has its wheelbase increased by 44 millimetres and is 64 millimetres longer. The OCTAVIA PRO’s advantage in length becomes even more apparent when compared against the third-generation model, which remains on sale in China as well. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO uses the emotive design language of the European model and features front and rear aprons in the style of the sporting OCTAVIA RS. In addition to innovative driver assistance functions it comes with a latest-generation infotainment system. The interior features a prominent 12-inch central display.

With over 1.4 million units sold in China to date, the ŠKODA OCTAVIA is a key performer for the Czech carmaker in its largest single market. This is why ŠKODA AUTO has made exclusive adjustments to the all-new OCTAVIA’s fourth generation prior to its launch in China. Marketed as the ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO, the new model for the world’s most populous country boasts a wheelbase extended by 44 millimetres to 2,730 millimetres. This increases the already generous cabin size of the European OCTAVIA even more, turning the new variant into a veritable space ace. Its overall length increases by 64 millimetres to 4,753 millimetres. Compared to the third-generation OCTAVIA, which will remain on sale in China alongside the new model, the all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO is an even more sizeable 78 millimetres longer.

Emotive design and RS-style aprons

The all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO for the Chinese market uses the same emotive design language as the fourth-generation OCTAVIA in Europe. It excels with sculptural elements, precise lines and modern, clearly defined surfaces. Overall, the OCTAVIA PRO looks like a dynamic coupé. This impression is reinforced by front and rear aprons in the style of the sporting OCTAVIA RS combined with a black roof, black exterior mirrors and alloy wheels measuring up to 18 inches in diameter. The slim headlights and tail lights are sharply drawn, feature the signature ŠKODA crystalline elements and come with LED technology as standard.

Multi-level instrument panel, 12-inch display and optional head-up display

The new interior architecture of the ŠKODA OCTAVIA is dominated by a multi-level instrument panel and a free-standing central display with a differently coloured area beneath it echoing the contours of the ŠKODA grille. The OCTAVIA PRO’s touchscreen display has a screen diagonal of 12 inches. With their permanent internet connection, the latest-generation infotainment systems provide access to numerous mobile online services. The optional Virtual Cockpit with a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches is another digital and customisable system. It can be complemented by an optional head-up-display projecting items like the current speed, navigation prompts, detected road signs and activated driver assistance systems onto the windscreen, in the driver’s immediate field of vision. The multifunction sport steering wheel comes with three spokes as well as buttons and knurled scroll wheels. The OCTAVIA PRO also includes many sophisticated comfort features, such as front seats that offer ventilation in addition to seat heating and electric adjustment. Electric tailgate operation is also on board.

Innovative assistance systems, superior road safety and DSG with shift-by-wire technology

The ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO features innovative assistance systems such as an exit warning function that tells occupants opening a door whether there are other vehicles or cyclists approaching from behind. The new model provides drivers with lane-keeping and lane-change assistance and if necessary will initiate an emergency stop. It also comes with Adaptive Cruise Control. Safe handling is ensured by an advanced multi-link suspension from the Volkswagen Group. Power is provided by an efficient 1.4 TSI engine with 110 kW (150 PS) and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG with shift-by-wire technology. This means that the driver’s gear selection is communicated electronically rather than mechanically to the transmission, via a small rocker switch on the centre console.

Iconic model with Chinese lucky number in its name

The name OCTAVIA is derived from the Latin “octavia” (“the eighth”). The original OCTAVIA introduced in 1959 was the eighth ŠKODA model to feature a state-of-the-art independent suspension for all wheels and also the Czech carmaker’s eighth model since the Second World War. In 1996, ŠKODA introduced the modern OCTAVIA, which has since gone on to become the brand’s most popular and iconic model, with a production total of over 6.8 million. In China, the number 8 also represents infinity and is considered particularly lucky, making it many Chinese people’s favourite number.
