› New compact model implements emotive interior design language of VISION RS concept
› Ergonomics and modern design meet lots of space and the biggest boot in this class
› Virtual Cockpit and infotainment systems with largest displays in this class
› Surfaces with specific grain and premium seat upholstery made from Suedia microfibre
› ŠKODA SCALA will celebrate its world premiere on 6 December 2018 in Tel Aviv

Mladá Boleslav, 7 November 2018 – A design sketch provides a first glimpse of the interior of the new ŠKODA SCALA. The new compact model will be the first ŠKODA to feature the latest infotainment generation with a free-standing display positioned high up, in the driver’s immediate field of vision. The optional Virtual Cockpit has the biggest display in its class. In addition to new interior trims and premium materials the ŠKODA SCALA also offers a generous amount of interior space, along with the largest luggage compartment in this segment, at 467 litres.

The new ŠKODA interior concept follows the direction set by the ŠKODA VISION RS concept car. The new ŠKODA SCALA marks the first time this emotive design has been translated into a ŠKODA production model. The completely redesigned instrument panel blends seamlessly with the exciting exterior design. The free-standing display is positioned high up and framed by a design line that echoes the contours of the bonnet; below the display, it also creates an ergonomic wrist rest for operating the touchscreen. The instrument panel’s and door trims’ soft-foam surfaces feature large-scale design textures and a specific new grain. This emulates crystalline structures and will define the ŠKODA brand’s style in future.

Ambient lighting with a choice of white or red light as well as warm hues and contrasting stitching for the seat upholstery ensure a pleasant sense of space in the ŠKODA SCALA. As an option, customers can order seat upholstery made from the sophisticated Suedia microfibre. In typical ŠKODA style, the interior provides a tremendous amount of space. This is due to the car’s long wheelbase of 2,649 millimetres, which allows for a luxurious 73 millimetres of knee room on the rear seats, equivalent to that in the ŠKODA OCTAVIA. Rear headroom, at 982 millimetres, is the largest in its class. At 467 litres, the ŠKODA SCALA also boasts the biggest luggage compartment in this segment. With the rear backrest folded down, its volume increases to 1,410 litres.

The ŠKODA SCALA is also best in class in terms of display size. The customisable Virtual Cockpit for instance, available as an option, measures 10.25 inches and allows drivers to choose between five different views. The available infotainment systems, based on the latest-generation Modular Infotainment Matrix, come with a touchscreen measuring up to 9.2 inches that’s positioned high up on the instrument panel, in the driver’s immediate field of vision.

Thanks to a new generation of ŠKODA Connect mobile online services, passengers will have the option of locking and unlocking the car using their mobile phone and updating the software of the infotainment or maps ‘over the air’. In a first for ŠKODA, all delivered ŠKODA SCALA cars will always be online.

Numerous driver assistance systems, working in combination with a variety of passive safety systems, ensure that the ŠKODA SCALA offers a very high level of safety.

The new hatchback model will celebrate its world premiere on 6 December 2018 in Tel Aviv.

ŠKODA is introducing a new, fully programmable digital instrument panel to its KAROQ, OCTAVIA, SUPERB and KODIAQ ranges - giving the customers the option to replace traditional analogue dials and gauges with a high-definition electronic display for the first time.

Milton Keynes 08 October 2018: The Virtual Cockpit advanced display technology has, until now, been reserved for luxury models, and the introduction of the system is further proof of ŠKODA’s passion for offering high-end features to all car buyers. The Virtual Cockpit will initially be offered as an option on KAROQ, OCTAVIA and SUPERB models, with the KODIAQ set to follow later this year.

In simple terms, Virtual Cockpit is an advanced digital display that takes the place of traditional dials, gauges and sub-screens. At the heart of the system is a super sharp TFT display that has been specifically designed for for 3D impression graphics and exceptional clarity. The graphics processor - a quadcore Nvidia Tegra 30 chip enables the content to be displayed quickly and vibrantly, improving the way drivers interact with both their car and the road.

Thanks to the digital display, drivers can customise the layout of the screen to suit their tastes and journey requirements. In total, five different basic layouts are available, all of which can be individually programmed to fine-tune their appearance.

The classic layout presents both the tachometer and the speedometer as round instruments to the right and left of the display. The area between can be configured – for example with a display of the current entertainment programme or navigation map, which also has a zoom function.

The extended layout has a main display covering the entire width of the panel – for example with the current entertainment program or navigation map. Above and below, there is still space for small digital displays, for instance, for the current speed, gear recommendation, traffic sign recognition, distance remaining, distance to the next turn on the programmed route or the distance remaining to the destination.

The modern layout has a large display in the centre, which can display the navigation map, among other things. Additional information can be placed to the left, right, and above the map. The driver may choose to display the current speed, a navigation display with pictograms, gear selection, traffic sign detection (e.g. speed limits, driving times).

The basic layout shows two large displays – such as the current speed and the distance remaining. Additional basic information can be displayed at the top and bottom of the display. If the route guidance is activated, the navigation arrow will be displayed in the centre.

The sports layout shows a single, centralised, large dial containing the speedometer and rev counter, with space for additional customisable information to be placed at either side of the dial.

Virtual Cockpit is available to order as an option now, and can be specified on OCTAVIA and SUPERB models from SE variants upwards at a cost of £450 including VAT). For ŠKODA’s SUV range, the technology is available on KAROQ from SE L upwards for £450 including VAT, and KODIAQ* from SE L upwards. The system is priced at £450 including VAT for SportLine, Edition and L&K variants, and £550 including when specified on SE L and Scout models.

Virtual Cockpit will be available to order on KODIAQ models later this year.

For the first time in the SUV segment, ŠKODA is offering a vehicle that combines the robustness and versatility of an SUV with the sporty elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the KODIAQ GT, appealing to new, lifestyle-oriented consumer groups.

The front of the 4.63-metre-long ŠKODA KODIAQ GT is characterized by a wide bonnet and black-framed grille with chrome-plated dual ribs. The LED headlights, three-dimensional bumper and front spoiler with wide air inlets reinforce its powerful appearance. The roofline gently sloping behind the front doors merging into the flat tailgate gives the KODIAQ GT a dynamic profile. Powerful wheel arches and chiselled side skirts in the body colour with matte black elements also add to the robustness of the coupé version of this large SUV.

The rear end features sharply drawn LED taillights with crystalline shapes and ŠKODA's characteristic design. A fine reflective tape runs down the loading sill along the entire width of the vehicle and creates further accents alongside the black diffuser. In a display of confidence, this is the first ŠKODA production model in China to bear the brand lettering in individual letters in the centre of the tailgate.

The interior of the new KODIAQ GT is also sporty and stylish, combining the space typical of SUVs with the emotive lines of a coupé. In the interior, the eye is immediately drawn to the high-quality materials and fully customizable Virtual Cockpit, which comes as standard. As is typical for ŠKODA, there are numerous practical ‘Simply Clever’ ideas. With Wi-Fi access and MirrorLink™, Apple CarPlay and Baidu's Carlife, the KODIAQ GT is always online and at the cutting edge of connectivity.

The range of drivetrains for the KODIAQ GT includes two efficient engines: a 2.0 TSI with 137 kW (186 hp) drives the front wheels; the 2.0 TSI with 162 kW (220 hp) comes standard with all-wheel drive and a 7- speed DSG. Numerous assistance systems including Blind Spot Detect, Front Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop-go function to ensure maximum safety.

The new KODIAQ GT celebrates its official premiere in China at the Guangzhou Motor Show, which takes place from 16 to 25 November 2018. China will be the only market in the world where ŠKODA offers a total of four SUV models: KAMIQKAROQKODIAQ and KODIAQ GT.

In the new ŠKODA FABIA COMBI SCOUTLINE, a special front spoiler in matt black with silver trim emphasises the dynamic effect of the redesigned radiator grille and the narrower headlights. Matt black is also the colour for the wheel arch linings and side sills, with the wing mirrors and roof rails sparkling in silver. Like the front spoiler, the new rear bumper with diffuser combines matt black and silver. The 16-inch Rock alloy wheels are included as standard in the SCOUTLINE version; 17-inch Braga wheels in brushed anthracite metallic are available as an option.

The ŠKODA FABIA COMBI SCOUTLINE is available with the MPI and TSI engines from the FABIA model series. They each have three cylinders and a 1.0-litre displacement and comply with today’s most stringent EU6d-TEMP emissions standard. A start/stop system and brake energy recovery come as standard. The two TSI engines are fitted with gasoline particulate filters.

The ŠKODA FABIA COMBI SCOUTLINE also benefits from all the other improvements that went into the recently revised FABIA model series, including a more distinctive exterior as well as new seat upholstery and a new instrument panel. For the first time, the ŠKODA FABIA can be equipped with optional LED headlights and taillights, while new assistance systems include Auto Light Assist, Blind Spot Detect and Rear Traffic Alert low. The latter uses radar sensors when reversing out of a parking space or driveway to watch out for traffic and alert the driver early on. Add to that new Simply Clever features such as two USB ports in the rear of the cabin, a double-layer floor mat and a removable LED lamp, rechargeable while driving and located in the largest luggage compartment in this class at 530 to 1,395 litres.

With the ŠKODA VISION RS, the Czech brand combines its sporting tradition with a sustainable future. At the Paris Motor Show 2018 in October, the striking concept study – with its dynamic design language and efficient plug-in hybrid drive – provides the first insights into the next evolutionary stage of ŠKODA’s sporty RS models and the design of a future compact vehicle. ŠKODA also demonstrates a high level of environmental awareness with the use of sustainably produced Vegan materials.

Sharp lines. Smooth surfaces. Defined edges. The Vision RS is a clear nod to the racing genes it has inherited over ŠKODA’s 117-yr Motorsport history. Every exterior detail like the slim headlights, rear diffuser and the roof spoiler contributes to the car progressing like a bullet.

The sporty DNA of the Vision RS finds a futuristic expression in the interior design. There’s carbon everywhere. The space frame design, seemingly floating seats and cut-crystal details make the racy intentions of the car clear from the onset.

Brilliant white paint and carbon create striking contrasts:
Xirallic crystal sparkle effect paint make the brilliant white finish of the ŠKODA VISION RS shimmer with a subtle blue effect. Organic components in the paint reflect heat, thereby reducing the interior temperature. Numerous black carbon elements affixed to the body create distinctive contrasts to the white paint. The high-tech material widely used in motorsport is featured in the redesigned radiator grille, front and rear spoilers, exterior mirrors, side sills, air inlets and outlets, and the rear diffuser.

Vegan materials, sustainable production and special surfaces:
A carbon textile made from 100% recycled polyester thread is used for the upper part of the floating Alcantara® covered seats which bear signature Czech flags on their side bolsters celebrating Czechoslovakia’s foundation 100 years ago. Another example of sustainability are the floor mats which use Piñatex textile in a carbon weave; the high performance material extracts its fibres from the leaves of a pineapple tree. The sports steering wheel with a distinctive centre marking - similar to those seen in motor racing - has a centre pad featuring the same distinctive grain consisting of tiny triangles seen in the rest of the interior, carrying ŠKODA’s DNA into the brand’s future models.
